The Cumberland Valley Aquatic Club (CVAC) is a multi-phased, competitive age group swimming program operating on the campus of the Cumberland Valley High School. Our primary mission is to develop the strength, skill, and character of our swimmers so that they will be active, healthy, and well-rounded citizens in our community. CVAC has three major levels of swimming: 1. Our Mini-Team is for swimmers who are just starting out in swimming. These swimmers practice twice a week with a focus on learning stroke technique and having fun in the water. CVAC participates in two competitive swimming leagues. In the winter, we compete in the Central Penn Aquatic League or CPAL. This league is made up of teams from both the east shore and the west shore. In the summer, CVAC competes in the Capital Area Swim League, or CASL. This is made up of teams only on the west shore. East shore teams participate in the Mid Penn Swim League. The culmination of the summer season is a championship meet between the two leagues call Mid-Caps. CVAC also participates as a member of USA Swimming in the Middle Atlantic LSC. USA Swimming is the governing body for swimming at the national level. The country is broken into zones and then into Local Swimming Communities (LSC). USA swim meets are often away from the CVHS campus in places like Lancaster, Penn State, Allentown, West Chester and other areas. These meets provide opportunities for swimmers of all levels to compete against other swimmers of the same level in events and distances not offered at the local league level. CVAC practices and competes from the Cumberland Valley Natatorium. This is the premier swimming facility in the central PA area. We have a 40 yard pool with a moveable bulkhead. The pool can be changed from a 25 yard pool to a 25 meter pool using the bulkhead. We have eight competitive lanes and 4-5 warm-up/cool-down lanes in the shallow end of the pool. We have a Colorado 6 timing system with an 8 lane display. CV hosts League, USA, high school, and state championship level meets. Join CVAC swimming where we are “Soaring to New Heights!” |
